Capping off a successful 2014 AAA season, the 2001 Bakken Oilers took home the championship of the Combat Cup in Minneapolis. Building on a championship at the Mountain Dew Blast in St. Cloud, MN and a third place finish at the REA Hockey Academy Tournament in Grand Forks, ND earlier in the summer, the 2001 Bakken Oilers were in top form against strong Minneapolis competition. The team went undefeated despite diffcult games against strong Minneapolis teams such as Ice Edge and the Midwest Mustangs.
With two championships this summer, the 2001 Bakken Oilers have become an impressive team under head coach John Drady and assistant coach, former UND Fighting Sioux player, Tom Philion. The 2001 Bakken Oilers expect to ride this success and momentum into next summer and will looking to bring home additional championship trophies next year.
